My name is Sonali Dixit, and I want to share my long and arduous journey with pancreatitis. It’s a story of relentless pain, medical dead ends, and finally, the life-altering impact of Ayurveda. For years, my existence was defined by hospital beds and the constant fear of another attack.
The Shadow of Unexplained Illness
It started when I was just 18 or 19. I’d experience these sudden, crippling attacks. Imagine a pain so intense that you can’t stand, sit, or lie down. It consumes you. I’d be rushed to the hospital, where I’d spend ten days on IV drips, pumped full of painkillers, unable to eat. Doctors were baffled. They suspected “castor titis,” but there was no concrete diagnosis. This cycle repeated itself for years, from 1996 to 2004, and then again until 2007.
A Name for My Suffering, But No Real Solution
In 2005, I got married, and in 2006, the attacks returned. This time, in Noida, they finally diagnosed me with pancreatitis. I remember thinking, “Okay, now I know what it is, I’ll get better.” But the doctors offered little explanation. They prescribed pancreatic enzymes, telling me to take them for a year. I was naive, thinking it was just a “normal disease.”
From 2006 to 2007, the enzymes seemed to work. But when I stopped them, as instructed, the attacks returned with a vengeance, bringing severe dehydration. I was constantly hospitalized. I’d suffer severe dehydration every month, or every few months. I was living a half life.
Hitting a Dead End with Conventional Medicine
By 2007, my condition had worsened. I was referred to a specialist, a Padma Shri awardee. He told me there was no treatment, only the option of stenting my pancreas. “We’ll try,” he said, “but if it doesn’t work, there’s nothing more we can do.” That’s when I truly understood the gravity of pancreatitis. I had been living in a bubble, thinking I could be cured with pills.
I endured multiple procedures: endoscopy, lithotripsy, repeated stenting. Each time, I’d get a brief respite, only for the pain to return. One doctor told me I needed surgery, but with a 70% chance of failure. How could I risk that? I felt trapped.
A Desperate Leap of Faith: Discovering Vaidji
By 2014, I was at my absolute lowest. Doctors said they couldn’t place any more stents; my pancreas was too damaged. They even talked about placing stents in my bile duct. I was constantly vomiting, unable to keep anything down. Doctors told me the hospital was my “second home.”
My husband and I felt like we had nowhere to turn. We decided to explore Ayurveda. We initially planned to go to Patanjali, but while researching online, we found Vaidji. We read testimonials, and my husband saw a glimmer of hope. I spoke to two people who had been treated by Vaidji, and they gave me positive feedback. One person told me, “Catch the next train to Dehradun, or you’ll die.”
The Turning Point: Arriving at Vaidji’s Clinic
I was terrified, but desperate. I arrived at Vaidji’s clinic in Dehradun, weighing only 38 kg, still vomiting and in excruciating pain. My son, who was only five, had seen me hospitalized countless times.
Vaidji immediately gave me medicine and a special diet: a crispy roti with paneer and olive oil, followed by lemon. Within hours, the pain began to subside. It was like a miracle. The positivity I felt was overwhelming. We hadn’t planned to stay, but Vaidji convinced us, saying the stress of traveling back and forth would worsen my condition.
The Healing Process: 21 Days of Ayurvedic Treatment
For 21 days, I underwent Vaidji’s treatment. It wasn’t easy. I experienced pain as my body healed, but there was a sense of relief I hadn’t felt in years. I couldn’t eat anything when I arrived, and even water caused vomiting. Within days I was eating. When I left Dehradun, I weighed 42 kg, a significant improvement.
A Year of Relief, Then a Setback
For the next year, I continued Vaidji’s treatment. I was pain-free, eating normally. But then, in October 2016, I had another attack. I was hospitalized again, and doctors wanted to insert another stent. I was 45kg at that point, and the pain was so bad I wanted to die.
I was in the ICU, and my husband called Vaidji. Vaidji told him to bring me home. At home, Vaidji gave me a special medicine mixed with cream three times a day, along with a strict diet of khichdi.
The Revelation: The Stent Was the Culprit
During this time, I suddenly realized the stent I had been using for years was causing the pain. I requested the doctors remove it, promising never to return if I had problems again. The moment it was removed, the pain vanished. It was like magic.
A New Life: Free from Pain and Restrictions
Today, in 2024, I’ve been under Vaidji’s care for almost 10 years. Since 2018, I haven’t had any pain. I eat everything, no restrictions. I’ve gained weight, from 38 kg to 65 kg. I even had a healthy pregnancy.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, like giving up tea, but it’s been easy. I’ve traveled, attended parties, and lived a normal life. I carry my food when I travel, sticking to Vaidji’s dietary advice.
I know conventional medicine says there’s no cure for pancreatitis. But Vaidji’s treatment has given me a new life. He’s given me more than just relief; he’s given me my life back. I am eternally grateful.
