We are dedicated to providing comprehensive care, particularly for challenging chronic conditions such as Pancreatitis, Refractory Migraines, Childhood Asthma, certain types of Cancers, and various Liver diseases.
The Padaav Philosophy: Nurturing in Nature’s Embrace
Nestled in the serene village of Ratanpura, Gadarpur District, Uttarakhand, Padaav is more than just a hospital; it is a meticulously designed sanctuary for well-being. Our vision, conceptualized in 2018 when we shifted from Dehradun, was to create an atmosphere as close to nature as possible. We prioritize expansive open spaces, abundant sunlight, lush greenery, and the tranquil ambiance of Uttarakhand’s climate. This deliberate choice aims to foster a stress-free environment, allowing patients from bustling cities to relax, introspect, and embrace the possibility of recovery from even the most challenging illnesses. We firmly believe that good health flourishes amidst nature’s soothing embrace, and our campus, filled with seasonal vegetables and verdant landscapes, reflects this commitment.
A Standardized and Evidence-Based Treatment Protocol
Choosing Padaav means opting for a treatment protocol that is both standardized and rooted in strong documentation. Our core essence lies in our rigorous data collection and analysis, a practice initiated way back in 1997. As a third-generation Vaidya, Vaidya Shikha Prakash has been immersed in the science of Ayurveda from childhood, observing and refining patient history-taking and documentation processes. This continuous effort has led to the curation of highly standardized treatment protocols over the years. We currently boast a robust database of approximately 2100 pancreatitis patients, documented meticulously over 27 years, providing invaluable insights into changing disease trends and refining our approach year after year. This commitment to ‘practice’ in its truest sense ensures continuous learning and adaptation.
Bridging Ancient Wisdom with Modern Diagnostics
At Padaav, we blend the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with a modern diagnostic approach. We meticulously study and admit only well-diagnosed cases for the conditions we treat. Our treatment is highly personalized, recognizing that each patient’s journey is unique, yet grounded in our standardized protocols. Vaidya Shikha Prakash often encounters the misconception that women cannot be Vaidyas or that Ayurvedic practitioners might lack formal qualifications. She passionately advocates for Ayurveda as a science that beautifully bridges ancient wisdom with modern knowledge, enabling effective treatment for even those conditions not explicitly detailed in ancient texts, through a powerful combination of diet, lifestyle, and medicine.
The Three Pillars of Padaav’s Treatment: Aahar, Vihar, Aushadh
Our comprehensive treatment revolves around three fundamental pillars:
Aahar (Diet): Food as Medicine: We firmly believe that food is medicine. Our dietary plans are meticulously structured for each patient, considering their specific illness, age, weight, complications, and concomitant medications. Our dedicated team conceptualizes and monitors daily diets, maintaining a detailed register. Our mess, the heart of Padaav’s daily energy, offers a buffet-style service, ensuring personalized portions and requirements are met. Our innovative kitchen staff, including ‘Nandan Bhaiya’, ensures that healthy eating is never monotonous, focusing on the right combination, quantity, and timing of meals. We stick to basic, culturally resonant Indian foods, providing three main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) interspersed with two smaller meals, all customized for individual needs, like for diabetic patients or children, and notably emphasizing the often-deficient protein component in Indian diets.
Vihar (Lifestyle & Environment): Nurturing Your Being: Our residential ‘B Block’ features approximately 25 comfortable rooms, designed to provide a clean, safe, and hygienic ‘home away from home’. We understand that a patient’s attendant is equally vital to their journey, often facing more stress than the patient themselves. Thus, we ensure comfortable living spaces and good food for attendants too. During their 21-day stay, patients also benefit from a supportive community, often realizing they are not alone in their struggle. Seeing others with similar conditions, especially idiopathic cases that lack a clear cause, provides immense encouragement. This growing community, where patients and attendants often treat each other as family, brings us immense joy. We celebrate occasions, ensuring patients feel a sense of belonging and responsibility for their own progress. The 21-day period is invaluable for both us to deeply understand the patient’s complexities and for patients to develop vital self-management habits.
Aushadh (Medicine & Monitoring): Precision and Care: Our medical team conducts diligent morning and evening rounds, meticulously maintaining patient files. Every patient’s complete history, including all past reports and paperwork, is thoroughly documented. We track daily changes and investigations from Day 1 to Day 21, digitally archiving each case for continuous clinical research and learning. This systematic approach allows us to discover new findings about disease trends each year, truly embodying the concept of ‘practice’ as a continuous learning process.
A Journey of Compassion and Collaboration
For 14 years, Vaidya Shikha Prakash has dedicated her practice to pancreatitis, building upon her father’s pioneering documentation. At Padaav, every case is approached with immense dedication, care, and compassion. We understand the complexity and often fatal nature of illnesses like pancreatitis, and we are committed to supporting our patients at every step. We strive to solve their queries and problems, backed by a very strong follow-up system designed to guide them on their long-term health journey.
The name ‘Padaav’ itself symbolizes a ‘resting point’ in the arduous journey of recovery from chronic illnesses. It is a place where patients can halt, reflect, understand their condition, learn its management, and find solace in shared experiences.
Padaav Ayurveda’s foundational principle guides all our efforts: “स्वास्थ्यस्य स्वास्थ्य रक्षणम्” (Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam; protecting the health of the healthy) और “आतुरस्य विकार प्रशमनम्” (Aaturasya Vikara Prashamanam; alleviating the disease of the ill). Our foremost duty is to safeguard existing health, and should illness arise, to employ every necessary measure through diet, lifestyle, and medicine to restore health and enable a vibrant life.
